What the sizes mean, and what GSM tells you about a towel. Measure once and you will not need to exchange anything.
What GSM means
GSM stands for grams per square metre. It is simply how much the fabric weighs, and for towels it is the single most useful number on the label.
A higher GSM towel is thicker, holds more water and feels more substantial, but takes longer to dry. A lower GSM towel is lighter, dries quickly and packs small. Neither is better in the abstract, it depends on what you want it for.
