A single flat sheet is commonly around 60–66 inches wide. A 48-inch mattress that is 6 inches deep needs 60 inches just to cover the top and both sides. That leaves almost nothing to tuck under, so the sheet will pull loose.
A double flat sheet is the practical choice
A double flat sheet of around 90 inches wide gives plenty of fabric to tuck. You will have extra on each side, but you can fold it neatly under the mattress. This is the simplest option for most 3/4 beds.

You have three realistic options:
- Ask for a custom size. Some sellers will stitch an elastic sheet to your measurements.
- Get a darzi to convert a flat sheet. A local tailor can sew corner pockets and add elastic to a double flat sheet, cut down to your size.
- Use a flat sheet with good tucking or sheet straps, which works well if you do not mind making the bed each morning.

How to measure a 3/4 bed for a fitted sheet

- Measure width and length of the mattress top, edge to edge.
