Towel Price in Pakistan: What You Get at Each Price Range

Stacks of cream and beige towels on a table

Towel price in Pakistan depends mainly on four things: the fibre, the weight (GSM), the size and the finishing. A thin, blended towel from a bazaar stall costs far less than a heavy, pure cotton bath sheet with a woven border. The cheapest towel is not always the best value, because a well-made cotton towel lasts years longer.

Below we explain what pushes a towel's price up or down, what you typically get in each price range, and how to tell whether a towel on sale is really a good deal. We use Home Living's own towel prices as a concrete example.

What decides a towel's price

1. Fibre

Pure cotton costs more than cotton-polyester blends or microfiber, because cotton is the more expensive raw material. Within cotton, long-staple and combed or ring-spun yarns cost more than short, carded yarn. They are also softer and shed less lint. Specialty fibres such as bamboo-based viscose or linen are usually priced higher still. For a full comparison, see our guide to towel materials.

2. Weight (GSM)

GSM means grams per square metre, the weight of the fabric. A heavier towel uses more yarn, so it costs more to make. Light towels, commonly around 300–400 GSM, are the cheapest. Everyday towels around 400–600 GSM sit in the middle. Plush towels of 600 GSM and above cost more. Higher GSM is not automatically better in humid Pakistani weather, though, because heavy towels dry slowly. Our towel GSM explainer goes into detail.

3. Size

A bath sheet uses noticeably more fabric than a standard bath towel, often around half as much again, and a hand towel far less. Always compare towels of similar size. A "cheap" bath towel is sometimes just a small one.

4. Weave and finishing

Many smaller details add cost:

  • a woven dobby or jacquard border instead of a plain hem
  • double-stitched hems that don't unravel
  • good, even dyeing that doesn't bleed or fade quickly
  • softening and pre-washing at the mill
  • embroidery, printing and gift packaging

Brand name, shop rent and marketing also add to the shelf price, even when the towel itself is similar. Our checklist on what to look for in a towel brand helps you judge any seller.

What you get at each towel price range

Exact figures vary by city, season and seller, so here is what each range typically offers rather than fixed rupee amounts.

Price range What you usually get Watch out for
Budget Thin, light towels, often blends; multi-packs; gamchas and basic hand towels Low absorbency, lint, loose hems, colours that bleed; sizes smaller than claimed
Mid-range Cotton terry at an everyday weight, proper hems and a border, standard sizes Vague labels with no fibre or size listed
Premium Heavier, softer cotton, finer yarns, bigger sizes, better finishing and packaging Paying for a label or packaging rather than the towel; very heavy towels that stay damp

For most families, a mid-range cotton towel gives the best balance of softness, absorbency, drying time and lifespan.

Gamcha price and when a gamcha makes sense

A gamcha is a thin, flat woven cotton cloth, usually checked, and it is one of the cheapest drying cloths you can buy. It dries very quickly and packs small, which is why many people keep one for travel, the gym or a quick wipe in summer. It is not as soft or absorbent as a terry bath towel, so most homes use both.

Home Living towel prices, as an example

Home Living sells one towel product, so the example is simple. The price is in PKR and includes free delivery.

Towel What you get Price
2-piece cotton bath towel set, in 6 colours 1 medium towel (30 x 60) and 1 large towel (30 x 90), 100% cotton Rs 2,999 (was Rs 3,999)

That works out to about Rs 1,500 per towel. Each colour, such as Lavender Grey or Cream, has its own product page with photos and details. You can also message us on WhatsApp with any question.

Towels on sale: how to spot a real deal

Towels on sale, especially around Eid, Black Friday and winter or summer clearance, can be excellent value. A discount only helps if the towel is worth having, though. Before you buy bath towels on sale, check:

  • The size: is it a full bath towel, or a smaller towel at a bath-towel price?
  • The fibre: "cotton feel" or "cotton rich" is not the same as pure cotton.
  • The weight: a towel that feels very thin and see-through against light will not absorb well.
  • The hems: loose or single-stitched edges fray after a few washes.
  • The returns policy: clearance items are sometimes final sale.

Buying towels online vs in a shop

In a shop you can touch the towel, but prices often include rent and staff costs. When you buy towels online you can compare more options quickly. The trade-off is that you can't feel them, so the listing and the seller's policies matter more. When deciding the best place to buy towels, look for:

  • clear photos and a product page that states the size or offers to measure it
  • Cash on Delivery, so you pay after the parcel arrives
  • an exchange policy you can actually use
  • a phone or WhatsApp number that answers questions before you order

Home Living's exchange policy gives you 7 days to exchange unused items in their original packing.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a good bath towel cost?

There is no single right price, but a good everyday cotton bath towel usually sits in the mid-range rather than the cheapest bracket. Judge it by size, weight, fibre and stitching rather than price alone. Our bath towel buying guide lists what to check.

Are expensive towels worth it?

Up to a point, yes. Better cotton and stitching mean a towel stays soft and absorbent for years. Beyond that, extra cost often pays for a brand, packaging or a very heavy weight that dries slowly in humid weather.

Where can I buy a gym towel?

Home Living does not currently sell gym towels. Our gym and sports towel guide explains what to look for. Many people use a thin quick-dry towel or a hand towel for workouts.

What is a magic towel?

A "magic towel" usually means a compressed towel: a small tablet of cloth that unfolds into a towel when you add water. It is cheap and handy for travel but small and thin, so it can't replace a bath towel.

You can see all six colours side by side in our towel collection. Delivery is free anywhere in Pakistan and Cash on Delivery is available. If you are unsure which towel fits your budget, WhatsApp us at +92 327 1336144.
